The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a globally recognised examination, that assesses the English language proficiency of people who want to study or work in English-speaking environments. It is considered to be the world’s leading model of assessment for work, study, and migration, with over 10,000 organisations in more than 140 countries using IELTS’ model of assessment.
How is IELTS helpful?
The IELTS provides you with an objective and accurate assessment of your English Language abilities. The assessment metric is based on well-established standards that cover the full range of proficiency levels. The IELTS covers two main tests - Academic or General Training tests. Aspirants can choose either of them and attempt it through its four components - listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
While there is no pass or fail in IELTS, the test results judge your proficiency on a 9-band scale and this has remained consistent for the past 3 decades. If you get a score of 9, you are considered to be an expert user whereas 1 would indicate that you are not a user. It is essential to join classes to understand the format of the examination and better equip yourself for it.
